Burnout in nurses due to increased work burden were contributing factors such as lower nurse to patient ratio, poor scheduling, unnecessary paper works, repeated processes (Lahana et al., 2017), poor work-life management (Ang et al., 2016), ineffective collaboration techniques, poor work environment (Cañadas-De la et al., 2018), and external factors such as stress and unexpected conditions such as COVID-19 act critical role. For example, a study by Guixia & Hui (2020) highlighted that, nurses faced high burnout issues during COVID-19 and the condition affected their practice, quality of care, and support (Guixia & Hui, 2020). Lahana et al. (2017) found that burnout reduced job satisfaction and sense of personal accomplishment. Further, personal factors also affected throughput (Ang et al., 2016). Failing to prevent burnout will increase errors and adverse effects, health care cost, and turnover rate. Further, it reduces quality of care, job satisfaction, and quality of life (Cañadas-De la et al., 2018).
