This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

The purpose of this assignment is to define a business problem and variables, and to collect preliminary data for statistical analysis.

In this topic, you will begin a group case study assignment that will continue through Topics 2, 3, and 7. Additionally, the data collected for the assignment will also be used for an individual assignment in Topic 6. Assignments build upon one another, and it is expected that you will utilize instructor feedback provided on the Topic 2 and 3 assignments when completing the Topic 7 assignment.

Part 1:

For this assignment, your group will select one of the scenarios from the “Case Study Scenarios” topic resource. Based upon the scenario requirements, your group will complete the following steps:

1. Define the problem.
2. List the project objectives.
3. Identify the categorical and continuous variables related to the problem.
4. Conduct research to collect preliminary data based upon the scenario specifications. Data collection should include the past 6 periods (e.g., months, seasons, years).
5. Using Excel and the preliminary data, create at least two related graphs. Descriptive statistics, including mean, median, skewness, standard deviation, and a five number summary are required for all continuous variables.

Part 2

Using the “Project Status Report Template, create a 500-750 word status report for your manager or project sponsor.

Submit the Excel spreadsheet and completed “Project Status Report Template.”

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
