BIOS 267 Week 2 Infectious Diseases and Neoplasms DeVry
WEEK 2 TREATMENT OF INFECTIOUS AND NON-INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Many patients are upset when they go to their physician with a very bad cold or flu, and the doctor refuses to give them antibiotics. Why won’t the physicians prescribe antibiotics for a cold or flu? What would be some of the suggested treatments for these infectious conditions?
Thursday: How do treatments for an infectious condition differ from a non-infectious disease, such as cancer? Explain using examples.
WEEK 2 COURSE PROJECT TOPIC SELECTION
Choose a topic for your course project and post to the Discussion below. Be sure that you choose a sound, strong, scientific disease/condition (Pathophysiology) & treatments (Pharmocology) to research. Remember, the purpose of the project is not to repeat basic information about the topic, but to do some outside research and discuss it from a specific angle, so as to gain a deeper understanding of it. Ask yourself, “Is there known research and collected data about my topic?” Also, make sure that you present your topic in question format. For example: “What are the 3 major differences between Type I and Type II diabetes? Does this disease have known treatments?” See the Course Project Overview in Introduction and Resources for complete details.
Review the Rubric for further expectations for this week. Comments/feedback will be added in the rubric if necessary.
